We tutor students studying for the Solicitor Qualifying Exam (SQE).
SQE Exam
Our SQE tutor tutor can support you for the Solicitor Qualification Exam. The SQE is a new centralised examination for solicitors that the SRA will launch in September 2021. According to the SRA, the present proliferation of institutions assessing prospective lawyers makes it impossible to ensure that all new solicitors are evaluated to the same standard. The SQE will ensure that all trainee solicitors, regardless of their route to qualification (law degree, non-law degree, or law apprenticeship), sit the same qualifying exam, ensuring consistency and high standards across the board and putting an end to the myth that one route to qualification is superior to another. Additionally, the SRA thinks that the SQE will increase access to the legal profession by decreasing the cost of education (in comparison with the GDL and LPC.)
How We Can Help
City Law Tutors offer specialist tuition and training in all the SRA SQE modules and SQE preparation for the SQE exam. Your SQE tutor in London will have graduated from top SQE institutions while others will practice from leading law firms as well as magic and silver circle firms. The SQE is the vocational stage of training for those intending to practise as solicitors. The course is undertaken over a year full-time or 2 years part-time. The SQE is generally made up of the following modules.
SQE1
property practice
wills and administration of estates
solicitors accounts
land law
trusts
criminal law and practice.
This initial set of tests will be conducted on a computer in a single assessment window, which means they must be completed concurrently and in the same session. SQE1 must be completed completely before attempting SQE2, however this is the sole time constraint. The two years of qualifying work experience may be taken at any stage throughout the SQE, however the SRA anticipates that the majority of graduates will complete SQE1 prior to beginning their primary term of work experience.
SQE2
SQE2 assesses practical legal knowledge. The evaluation lasts five days and consists of sixteen practical activities that include both written and spoken assignments. Throughout, ethics and professional behaviour are evaluated. SQE2 practice contexts are:
criminal litigation
dispute resolution
property practice
wills and intestacy, probate administration and practice
business organisations rules and procedures.
